Sizzling Like a Sausage
Hello Sizzlers,
This week, I found myself scrolling through puppy pictures of Sizzle (also known as Puppy Sizzle), and it had me reminiscing about how it all started.
Before we got Sizzle, I was constantly looking at puppy litters, absolutely stunned at how tiny these little puppies were. I knew I wanted a Dachshund, but beyond that? Not much was set in stone. Coat type? Gender? No clue. Before moving forward, I was given a very serious task: read a couple of books on Dachshunds and puppy care.
Hello Sizzlers,
As with most things in my life, dog ownership meant that I became a full-time researcher on all things dog related. In my previous posts, I shared some of our challenges but also some wins. Now, I want to share with you an honest walkthrough of the main things we tried - what worked, what didn’t and everything in between.
I could say, “I tried it so you don’t have to" but that’s not it - some of it was purely out of desperation and trying to trick myself into believing the fix was really that easy.
Hello Sizzlers,
Being a dog parent (or guardian or whatever else you prefer to call it), has definitely added to something that has always been present in my life: imposter syndrome.
To this day, I often find myself wondering: “Am I even cut out to look after this little puppy?”, the self-doubt crept in pretty fast since day 1 and I still battle with it. A good example: I’d go “Why can’t he settle down?
Hello Sizzlers,
Here comes our first real post!
I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to focus on, ChatGPT suggested “A time Sizzle ate my slippers” and that didn’t really feel very inspired.
When I got Sizzle, my life turned upside down. Everyone made dog ownership look so easy but for me, it wasn’t. I cried almost daily for six months. This post isn’t going to be a cute cheesy dog story, it’s the truth about what it really took me to bond with a puppy, and how I learned to become the human he needed.
Hi there! I’m Shaz and I’m the human of a Wirehaired Dachshund called Sizzle. I wanted to start this blog because Sizzle is now over 2 years old and still loves keeping me on my toes!
Being a dog owner definitely comes with its challenges and not many talk about it. Before you think that I have all the answers: I do not, not even close. What I have is 2 years of dog-‘motherhood’ experience which realistically, isn’t a lot but we make do.
